The Phantom and Skull chair 1/6

    Hi All,

I finally got this project done.

So once I got all the items together I then had to decide which version I wanted to make. I liked the Billy Zane version with the darker purple suit but also liked the comic version with the blue and black striped trunks.

So I decided to mix the both together incorporating the draker movie style suit with the comic trunks. I also wanted to make a dio for him and thought about a jungle setting but thought that the Skull Chair would be a very iconic look. Once I got the look I wanted for both the Phantom and chair they were both painted and weathered using Vallejo, GW paints and chalk pastels.

    RECIPE

The Phantom - The body and hands are from Hottoys Indiana Jones, the head was one that I had lying in the parts box for ages. The boots and pistols are from Dragon, I picked up to bodysuits from ebay and used the second one to make the neck section and cowl.

The cowl was stretched over the head then I cut out the design and then glued in into place, the mask is made from some left over pleather. The trunks I got from d-artstudios, The belt and side sections leading sown to the holsters were made using leather and the holsters are from two Hasbro Indy figures, they were both cut down from the top to house the psitols better.

The buckle and rings were made from plasticard and the skulls were cut from a GW War Hammer figure and cut and then sanded down and glued into place.

The Base - was made using high density foam, the chair was cut out and then glued to the base and then I carved small sections away to simulate stone. The skulls are resin pieces I picked up from the local gift shop, I glued them inplace and once dry I used a mix of plaster of paris and woodglue to cover both the chair and skulls, the sand is a mix of palster of paris woodglue and fine washed river sand.

Very nicely done! I always love it when characters are converted to 1/6th scale. I too love the weathered look on the suit. Is that fabric on the head and the mask? Very nicely done. You've got a piece to be proud of for sure. Great execution throughout. Excellent work!

Hey thunderbolt no worries at all.

With the Phantom outfit I didn't start weathering untill the outfit was on. The outfit was a brighter purple and what I did first was give the cloth a wash with a darker purple and once dry repeated the wash several more time until I got the desired look.

Once the outfit completed dried which took about 20 hours I mixed some white into the same dark purple that I did the wash with. Once dry the outfit will be a little stiff but don't worry about that as it will become flexible again once you start moving the joints.

I then mixed soem white into the darker purple I used for the wash and then started to dry brush the outfit. again I did several drybrushes until I got the look I was after. Once the drybrush completely dried I then used pastels to give the outfit a little more definition by using some purple mixed with white and then spryed the entire figure using testors dull coate.

I hope this helped and if you need to know anything else don't hesitate to ask.
