Thanks! Some of the customs I have done are from the POTA movies or the animated series. I lean toward doing ones that Mego never did that I always thought would be cool (female gorillas and orangutans). The Admiral is my own creation with some inspiration from the movies, tv, comics, etc. I have the 3 astronauts from the animated series pretty much done and ready to go. Just tweaking the boots/slippers a bit.

I dig it! Is that an original design or is he based on an existing character? Either way, it's great!

Great name Naimis or at least Simian spelled backwards. Great custom.

Thanks. It is an original design with some influence from all the different POTA incarnations out there. TV, movies, comics, etc.

I wasn't sure if anyone would notice the name. HA!

What is the source for the heads? I have the 'Return to the Planet of the Apes' DVD set, and am very interested in WIP, and what has been done already. Thanks.

Bill and Jeff are both Doc Mego heads and Judy is a Dorothy head with full re-root and rull re-paint. There is a pic of them in my gallery/profile that I posted a few months back. I am also working on a 12" set of the astronauts from RTPOTA as well (using GI Joes and a GI Jane). I'll be posting pics of them as well. Thanks for checking them out!

Congrats lilbrosj66; that's excellent styling. The leather work really looks top notch.

What was your material/technique for the glyph?

Also, I've noticed you tend to offer your work on eBay instead of here... any particular reason?; just curious as a fellow maker where you find the most interest in POTA customs.

The glyph on the chest is actually from one of the Hasbro 12" POTA figures from years back. I took it off of the Cornelius figure's sleeve and dyed it red with RIT dye. I have a stash of those wretched 12" figures that I use for parts only.

I have never bought/sold on here before. I probably end up getting a bit more on Ebay than I would get here (at least that is what I have told myself) and all the money I make goes right back into buying more supplies, bodies, clay, etc. Not that I am just in it just for the money alone, because some of them have went for less than I think their worth but that is just my opinion. And kind of a familiarity thing? I am very familiar with Ebay and honestly not so familiar with the buying and selling here. Also, I fully admit I get a total kick out of watching the timer on those auctions kick down to the last second wondering what is going to happen to the price. I do plan on doing molds of all my heads eventually and those casts I will sell on here to the members.

Thanks Commander. I always hope they end up going for a huge wad of money but I told myself when I started listing them I'll take what I get and be satisfied. All the money just goes right back into the hobby anyway. And I like the thought that my figures will end up in the collection of someone that really appreciates POTA and is a fan. One ended up in New York and another in Texas. Maybe that's how the whole Rise of the Apes starts, huh? LOL!
