    Warlock664's Custom/Bashed Earth-2 (Golden Age) SUPERMAN & BATMAN

I'll admit it, I'm an Earth-2 junkie! The very first DC Comic I ever browsed was my older brother's copy of JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #91 - which just happened to be part 1 of 1971's installment of the annual JLA/JSA teamup! I was captivated by the duplicate heroes of 2 earths - 2 Flashes, 2 Green Lanterns, 2 Atoms that looked nothing like one another, 2 Hawkmen that sorta did, and 2 Supermen who were the closest to each other in appearance. From that moment, I devoured every Earth-2 appearance I could find, which was usually limited to the annual get-togethers, until ALL-STAR COMICS was finally revived in 1976.
I think it has been a goal of mine since I first read JLA #91 to assemble 2 teams of heroes to mirror one another from Earths 1 and 2. I've been working diligently on completing DC Direct-style 13" customs for many of the figures, but two that were missing were the Earth-2 versions of Superman and Batman. I finally completed them recently, and they're more "kit bashes" than actual customs. For Superman I used the first DC Direct release (the Superman/Clark 2-in-1), painted his temples grey, removed his chest and cape logos, and added a custom painted Golden Age "S" logo. For Batman, I used the DCD Modern Batman figure, re-painted the head, kept the bodysuit and added the boots, gloves/hands, cape and belt from the DCD Classic Batman. All-in-all, 2 pretty simple bashes.

    Here they are:

And here are pics of the Earth-2 heroes with their Earth-1 counterparts:

    Here's the Earth-2 Bat-Family:

    and the Earth-1 approximation:

And finally, here are the E-1/E-2 Super-Families:

(and yes, I plan on customizing a 70's hot-pants Supergirl to replace the DCD factory release)

As always, thanks for indulging my non-Mego customs! Links to my previous customs:

After starting and stopping several times over the last few months, I finally finished my custom DC Direct 13" set of The Law's Legionnaires (AKA The Seven Soldiers of Victory). Of course, Wing How never got any credit, so the number of figures actually totals eight! First up, the Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy:

As hinted at in my last thread, I've been working on another DC Super-Team for the past several weeks. Originally created in the Golden Age and published individually in various magazines by Quality Comics, in 1973 DC Comics banded them together as the Freedom Fighters and featured them in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #107 &

Those look really sharp. Nice set.

They all look good...but Batman is my favorite. Using the modern(Year One)Batman head makes that figure ten times BETTER then the original DCD 70's Blue Batman! Nice job!

I'm currently planning an Earth-2 Wonder Woman - I have an extra DCD WW, just need to figure a few details out. And I've still got to make Mr Terrific and Johnny Thunder - I know I'm going to have to make a suit for Johnny so I'm putting it off. Not sure if I can manage the Thunderbolt. I made Wildcat a while back, but I'm just not satisfied with the head/mask (can't get the ears to look right). I plan to re-try again eventually.
If I ever get to the point where Ma Hunkel is the last remaining JSAer, I'll have to figure something out for her as well!
