Warlock664's SEVEN (make that EIGHT! ) SOLDIERS OF VICTORY - DC Direct 13" Customs

After starting and stopping several times over the last few months, I finally finished my custom DC Direct 13" set of The Law's Legionnaires (AKA The Seven Soldiers of Victory). Of course, Wing How never got any credit, so the number of figures actually totals eight!

First up, the Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy:

The kid was completed months ago, using a DCD Spirit movie figures as a base and re-worked Martian Manhunter boots with a hand-made costume, Stripesy sports a re-painted Golden Age Flash head and re-worked Green Arrow boots with a hand-made costume.

Next up, Green Arrow and Speedy:

Speedy was completed early this year using a Spirit/teen body, a head from a Hot Toys Truetype figure, re-purposed Green Arrow bow and modified quiver/belt, and Sinestro boots custom costume. The Golden Age Green Arrow has an Aquaman head, modified quiver, GA Flash boots, and hand-made costume

      The Crimson Avenger and Wing:

Crimson Avenger has a Hot Toys TT head, modified SHAZAM! boots, and hand-made costume. Wing is on a Spirit/teen body with a TT Asian head, painted Robin shoes and belt, and hand-made costume. Both are wearing Robin masks.

        The Shining Knight:

The Knight gave me fits: initially, I thought the gold chain-mail would be the sticking point, but one trip to JoAnn's Fabric yielded a stretchy gold/black material that I think works well. I ordered the spurs and sword/scabbard off ebay, and the costume is hand-made. I spent a couple of months on and off trying to perfect the head and helmet. I'm still not satisfied, but I'm moving on for now, will revisit it if inspiration strikes in the future (the head is from a DCD Comedian heavily re-worked, the "helmet" is from a plastic Easter egg).
        Sorry, no Winged Victory!

          The Vigilante:

Vigilante has a classic Superman head, modified Jonah Hex hat and gun-belt/guns plus boots, and the rest is hand-made. I still need to add a "V" to his gun-belt.

          Finally, here's a group shot:

Thanks for looking; here are links to previous threads showing my other DC Direct customs should you be interested in checking them out:

As hinted at in my last thread, I've been working on another DC Super-Team for the past several weeks. Originally created in the Golden Age and published individually in various magazines by Quality Comics, in 1973 DC Comics banded them together as the Freedom Fighters and featured them in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #107 &

Dude , you know i love your customs. Because yo keep making the Golden Age characters trhat i am trying to complete in 8" size. i still need to finish Wing and SSK to finish min 7 Soldiers. Though i am tempted to make Stuff and Squire and get up to 10 of them.

You've done a fantastic job with those Golden-Age customs. If that line had of kept going I wish it would have went exactly where you did with it. Each set of figures got better and better as a scrolled through the photos. Love Green Arrow and Speedy. The heads really capture the art from the old comics, but like Thunderbolt, the Vigilante is my favorite.

Would love to see you do a line of The New Teen Titans (Perez/Wolfman) or even the Legion, if you have some more figures to work with.
