Yeah but ABC's decision to adapt the character to TV was the direct result of Emma Peel's success. They did a back door pilot on "Burke's Law" where they introduced the character. That appearance proved popular enough for them to greenlight a series.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Not to agrue the point, but, Honey's first appearance on Burke's law was 4/26/65 Emma's first episode was 10/2/65 and the first Honey West episode was 9/17/65 So Honey came first in books and on screen. Now John Steeds partner before Emma, Cathy Gale played by Honor Blackman, could very well have inspired ABC to green light the Honey West show. Unless as being involved with the Avengers ABC had an early peak at Emma but i Can't see how that would work for the Burke's episodes timing. But i Could be wrong."Hang on Lady... Originally producer Aaron Spelling had seen Honor Blackman as Cathy Gale and wanted her for the role of Honey but she turned it down and the part went to Anne Francis. That would be for the Burke's Law pilot. Meanwhile ABC had decided to purchase the Avengers and bring it to the States starting with the upcoming Emma Peel season. So ABC would have had a heads up since they were sorta funding that season onward. So it was both Avengers women that were probably influential on the Honey West character. On-air debut doesn't necessarily mean anything since shows are often held back and I can see there being a production time difference since the avengers was filmed in England. But I'm not certain on the dates of production.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Late to the party, but I've been going through a Honey West phase lately. I hope it's okay to revive this old thread. It's full of such good information, so I didn't feel the need to start a new one.
Anyway, I never really desired to own the '60s Gilbert doll before because I thought they looked homely. I wonder why they only had minimal face paint? However, I found one online pretty cheap, no clothes, a real fixer-upper, but I thought I could work my "magic" on her, so I went ahead and purchased her. Her hair was stiff and dry, and she was missing her beauty mark mole. So I gave her a beauty treatment: shampoo and conditioner, painted on her mole and voila! I think a little eyeliner does wonders! Here's the transformation. What do you think?
