Extra light starting out customs- maybe more mashups

I don't really think Cap counts as a custom- the suit and head were part of a small junk lot I won on Ebay, I think the body was a Castaway. The head got some touch-up paint that blended really well. The boots were from Ctvt- and so thin that you could easily see through them- they painted up well. I still need to add a star to the chest.

The shield came from a 6 or 7 inch Walmart Cap exclusive

I painted the white- it was silver. I thought the shield was about the right size and it has molded straps on the inside. The figure also came with a Thompson machine gun and a .45

Next up is Supe. It's an original Mego head on a Zica muscle body with a Castaway Super Suit and cape- Getting those boots on almost sent me on a murderous rampage through the countryside. The belt was from a 12' and cut and glued to fit - since the Zica body was just too wide for the Castaway belt.

The last one - I don't know- just seeing the Ctvt Space 1999 figures and the skeletons they sell- just seemed like they needed to go together- at least the white hands lend themselves well. I had to cut off most of the zipper pull in order to get the space helmet base to fit better.

I also made a rookie mistake by trying to use some model glue to stick the corner of the sticker down- one, it didn't stick, two- a little residue on my fingers smudged the graphics- so , exacto knife to the rescue- it looks fine with the corner cut off- better that than smeared graphics.

Nothing wrong with those. Nice use of materials and creative problem solving. Good job. Careful, customs are kind of addictive. Next you'll be wandering through stores looking for odds and ends to work into your stuff. Keep em coming.

According to a recently banned member, I'm supposed to be criticizing customs, so here goes. Get rid of the stuff in the background and take your pics with a clean sheet or poster board or image as a backdrop. It shows them off better. Seriously you're off to a great start.

They all look awesome! But I agree with Ronin; the camera seems to like your backgrounds more. Get rid of them and do what Ronin suggested!

As mentioned above you are off to great start! Keep pushing! With every figure you'll learn something new.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

                  These are great!
I like the Superman, as it remind me of the barrel chested Curt Swan style. Which I love.

Also, the Skeleton in Space Suit...is that influenced by the Doctor Who episode in the Library? Different color suit, but I really like the orange with the white head.

When I have stiff boot, I soak them in hot water for about a minute and they slip on easier.

I have never been a Doc Who fan- so, I can say I was not "directly" influenced by the episode you are referencing- but who knows where the idea popped into my head from - except for maybe the Scooby Doo episode with the Kooky Space Kook!

I just thought a Skeleton astronaut was kinda cool- and I figured all the parts coming from Ctvt would make for easy swapping!

I will definitely try the warm water soak for boots if I run into them again- they are great looking boots and worth the trouble!!

Everything looks great, man. I almost want to get a space suit and a skeleton and go to town. I love the "not a certain character, just a cool idea" customs and he is defintely one. CTVT should put this combo on their site, i would buy one. Just reminds me of that Doctor Who episode with the Vashta Narada (one of my favorites!) "Who turned out the lights...?"

I sympathize about the Cast-a-Way boots, man, they look good, but I almost broke my Black Panther getting the boots/gloves on. They look soooo good, though.

I LOVE your Space 1999 dead astronaut custom!! I would also not mind seeing a few more pics of him-- the why is because currently I am rusting a toy model for the Eagle One space craft. I want to make it look like a "dead ship" I think my model in the background and your custom in the front would make a neat photo.
