Hello Megoheads;
I have been away due to my busy work schedule with the band. Luckily I can still check in from my laptop and a variety of other devices to glimpse at how things are going from time to time.
I haven’t stopped constructing Mego customs. On my diminutive breaks I have been working on heaps of Mego customs. Nowadays they are just mainly for myself (even though my girlfriend often complains I’ve taking over more then just the original corner of the house
) and to keep myself in a first-class frame of mind.
My daughter (who just got out of the hospital for issues with her intestines) has been pushing me back into the Mego custom world so I have been doing a few touch ups and more than a few all together complete Mego customs.
For a short time I was in consideration regarding to deleting my account (for private reasons I won’t divulge) and lack of activity here (for me) but discussing with quite a lot of people on Facebook and other communiqué devices; I have determined to remain here and I felt in actuality good after the cool correspondence from various individuals who have felt the same way (at one instance or so.) I'm ready to bury the hatchet, are you? I'm not a bad guy and things just got messed up with two people and I.
So enough of that! I’m only going to post what I believe came out acceptable. If you’d like to see the rest of my Mego customs I have worked on/finished follow the link on the bottom of my post signature (If you can’t see it, then that means it was blocked. Instant message me then.) or add me on Facebook. Cat on Facebook right here! Add me Facebook
I feel posting my all my finished customs on here can be irritating after awhile (principally because I don’t sense some of them holding a candle to some of the ones I have seen on here recently.)
To start off; I’d like to express thanks Paul Clarke and all the community at EMCE who pushed the heck out of Mattel for at least getting some form of super hero type Mego-like” figures back into the rotation. As soon as I saw all the complaints about the bodies, looks and what not…I knew it was a plummeting vessel in the water.
Yes, chatting to a few friends we all predicted that they would not last in this insensitive world of 2011 and computers. Kids these days would rather sit on their asses and strap themselves into a gaming system and plainly “become Superman” in a video game then hold up an active figure and fly him around in the region of the house and being called names by other snot nosed kids in the home.
I don’t concern myself with what you label me. I’m old school and roughly three-hundred figures Mego and Mego customs later I’m going to remain customizing who I want. I’m glad that Paul Clarke gave it a shot and got a small number of of those figures we never saw as Megos (Green Lantern, Flash, Lex Luthor and Black Manta…etc.)
I appreciated the Shazam (Captain Marvel) figure but of course things with Mattel were not what the doctor ordered (no pun intended) I in my opinion loathed the Mattel bodies and as a loyal follower and buyer of Dr. Mego I have spent a good portion of change replacing all the Mattel bodies with Dr. Mego bodies. Some Mattel bodies I was able to repair and fiddle with and use for other lesser needed Mego-like customs. (an adult Aqualad was one I did.)
I'm also sorry to say this but to me, the Black Adam head just plain sucked (sorry Paul). He looked like a really appalling Dungeons and Dragon’s elf and he was unsuccessful capturing Black Adam’s facial appearance.
So, as you can see I replaced the Black Adam head as well as the bodies and added my own black evil cape for him that he on the odd occasion uses. I also tried to come close to the gold fabric in the suits to construct my own Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Junior. I really look forward to you enjoying my take on them and don’t shame me for the Mattel Blasphemy I have said before you all.
