    Kumaso Warrior

The Kumaso (熊襲) were a tribe of the Jomon people(the aboriginal inhabitants of Japan) of ancient Japan, who lived in the south of Kyūshū (their domain encompassing the historical provinces of Hyuga,Osumi, and Satsuma or present day Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectutures) until at least the Nara period(710AD-794AD). Kuma (meaning "bear") and So (meaning "attack)in Japanese. The name was given to them by the Yamato(Japanese)to describe both (some of)their physical traits and their fierceness in combat.
Here's my Kumaso Warrior action figure. For his head I converted a CTVT Prof.Bergman head with Claystone(gave him a new hairdo, lips, and nose and a beard). For the body I used a CTVT Brown body. I sculpted his sword and Sheath from Sculpey and his shield and spear blade (made the spear shaft from a wooden chopstick)from Clay-stone.I made his straw skirt and cape from jute twine.I painted his head, his tattoos, and his body hair with acrylic paints and sealed with Mod-podge.
