Former boxing legend Charlie Compton was assigned to the AAC (Arctic Air Command)as part of the ground security team nearly 70 years ago. While on a routine patrol he investigated some suspicious activity near Mount Moraine. He witnessed as many as 12 rockets launched into space from the mountain’s base. He attempted to radio his findings, but there was no reception.
Two of the rockets broke apart in midair, one dropping a strange capsule into a glacier a few miles away and the other rained parts and debris around Charlie. A purple gas was emitted from the wreckage that enveloped Charlie and caused him to black out. When he awakened two weeks later, he was back at his base with no memory of how he returned and with an additional 100 pounds of muscle mass. He had been transformed into the world’s first superhuman with enhanced strength and bulletproof skin. He could not recall the coordinates of his discovery, and all attempts to find the location failed.
DNA samples were taken from his saliva for testing and were used in the formation of a serum for creating ultra soldiers. Only one sample worked on the teenager who would become Charlie’s sidekick, Kid Liberty. Charlie was given the codename Sergant Star while serving in the military, but took on the name Battlestar once he became a civilian adventurer and the world’s first superhero. Battlestar was killed when he detonated an atomic bomb before it hit the ground saving millions. His sidekick carried on his legacy and is now known as Colonial Liberty.
The figure went through several design stages. I had a very specific idea when I put him together, but seeing it finalized was waaaay less than stellar. I opted for a basic utilitarian, military-ish look that he would have adopted. This guy is unapoligetically a combination of Captain America and Wildcat. Not a lot of originality here, just inspiration.
My camera is slowly dying, so these pics look a little washed out.
