The akaname (垢嘗Here's, lit. "filth licker") is a monster from Toriyama Sekien's Gazu Hyakki Yakō, likely based on a creature called aka-neburi from the Kokon Hyaku Monogatari Hyōban (古今百物語評判?), an Edo period story collection. Sekien included no explanation with the drawing, but today the akaname is often described as a being which appears in untidy bathrooms to lick up the grime and dirt with poisonous saliva. The story is sometimes used to scare children into keeping the bathroom clean. This explanation seems to have originated in a 1920's anthology of yōkai art.
Here's my Aka-name action figure ( for more pics: Pictures by yokaijohn001 - Photobucket )
I sculpted his head from clay over a grayed original mego head (I had in my parts bag). For his body I used a CTVT child body (5")which I dyed green with rit fabric dye and I sculpted on his pointy foot claws (one on each foot)with clay.I sculpted his filthy toilet chamber accessory from clay as well.Entire figure and accessory were painted with acrylics and sealed with Mod-podge.
