My design. Hes kind of a cross between Doc Savage and the Rocketeer. (I put his story in the captains catch thread in the mego playhouse).

Is the blue chest plate a separate piece stuck on the costume, or is it the figure's actual torso?

If it is a separate piece, did you just use part of a torso and glued it on top of the figure's outfit?

I'm trying to figure out that look for a Keaton Batman.

                            Thanks folks!

It is a seperate piece. I originally sculpted one out of clay, painted it, and attached it with the straps you can see on the shoulders. Looked good, but when I put him on the shelf, he fell over (his rocket pack is quite heavy) and the clay piece broke (flexible sculpey my eye!!). I ended up taking a Mego torso I had from a parts lot that was unusable because someone cut the neck hole way too big to hold a head (unless they were trying to fit a GI Joe head or something?) and cut it in half, trimmed the sides down, and glued the straps into it. I decided to use the back piece as well this time instead of just a back harness, and trimmed it to also. It now fits much tighter to the body, and the pack doesnt want to pull him over now.

In short, its fully removeable (as is the rocket pack).

After I did this, I thought a glued on chest would look pretty neat for something ...like your Keaton Batman, for instance. You would have to trim the sides down more to get it to fit a bit close to the body probably, but I think it would look great. Cant wait to see what you end up with!?
