    Eric John Stark

Okay folks one more today for you viewing pleasure This is my version
of author Leigh Brackett's space hero Eric John Stark aka N'Chaka "the man,
without a tribe!" In Leigh brackett's universe all the planets in our solar
system are inhabited. EJS was born on the planet Mercury. When he was
young his family was murdered and he was recused and raised buy sub-
human, aboriginals from Mercury. Pretty much Tarzan in space! Adventually
EJS is rescued from a sideshow by a kind military fellow. Somewhat civilized,
he works as a mercenary, mostly on Mars, the on a planet called Skaith.
The original stories were written in the late 40's and the last ones in the
mid 70's. Leigh Brackett was hired by George Lucas to write the first draft
of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, the best Star Wars film bar-none! Leigh
Brackett died from cancer before the movie was made. Lucas claims he
didn't use anything from her draft, but those close to her beg to differ!
A little side note. In the books EJS's skin is discribe as being almost as
black as his hair, a side-effect of growing up on Mercury. Early cover artists
drew him as white and blond! It was assumed his skin color ment his race,
and God forbid we would have a heroic blackman nee African- American in
    the 1940's!
In the books EJS is often called, " the great black ape." Since he is a large
fellow I wanted a larger body for him. I used an Excel bosy which is similar to
the Gabriel bosy, maybe a 1/2 inch shorter. His head is from Laurie with my paints. Coat and pants are from Tood Water's aka IllegalMego's ebay store.
Todd described the coat as having a huge hood, from the pictures you will see Boots are Obitsu, and his gear is either OneSixthDepot, Monkey-
depot, or from my parts box.
    Thanks for looking and enjoy;
    Wayne

I love Leigh Brackett's work, and have always grabbed any copy of any of her other books (The Ginger Star series, Starmen of Lyrdis, Nemesis from Terra, and so on) any time I stumble across a used copy -- so I was surprised and excited to see Eric John Stark in today's customs. Your custom looks more like Stark than most cover paintings, which tend to turn him into a John Carter clone.

        Nice work!

And yes, Empire was great, I suspect, because of her -- her fingerprints are all over that movie!
