    Mego Apple II computer

Here is my latest post on LaserMego:

The Apple II computer holds a special place in my heart. It was the first computer my family bought in 1980. I spent hours every day playing games and programming it. It was what got me interesting in electronics and set me on the course to become an electrical engineer and computer architect.

When I saw the Apple II featured on the Lost TV show, I flipped out. And since there are going to be Mego-like retro Lost action figures, I knew I had to make an in-scale computer for the figures. So here is the my 1:9 scale Apple II computer, being demonstrated by Scotty:

"Thank-you. This is a really lovely machine!"

"It has a great keyboard with all the uppercase letters you need. And a convenient power indicator, that gets uncomfortably warm."

"If we spin it around to the back, you can find all the ports you'll ever need."

"And if we pop it open, you can see the blazingly fast 1MHz processor with a whopping 48K of random access memory!"

"Yes, this is all the machine you will ever need."

    Thanks Scotty!

The model was printed out on my Cupcake 3D printer and painted using Krylon Fusion beige paint. I then made several stickers from various images of the Apple II. It measures about 1.5 inches wide and 2 inches deep.

Coming soon, a monitor and disk drives. Plus I'll make a Lost Dharma Initiative version for Scott.

                  Scotty, "Hello Computer! Computer?"

McKoy, "Ahh just use the keyboard"

                  Scotty, "How quaint"

Awesome job on the computer. My first was the Vic 20, then moved to C64 which I loved and continued to use for fun and games until a few years ago when my father gave it away to my cousin without asking me first....

That is a very interesting concept for a custom.

Takes me right back to junior high social studies reports. My parents were teachers and had that Apple school discount. I even had one of the first drawing pads for it, the Koala.
