    Modern Ironman

Originally I bought this 8" figure hoping it would be the "new" Ironman for Mego-like sizes but as we all discussed this Ironman was way too skinny and didn't fit any size format.

I was going to take this new Ironman figure and re-sculpt him with a newer shell over his body to give him more bulk and fit a closer look that Ironman had during the Civil Wars book (my favorite comic book run).

I was inspired by one of my favorite customizers Captain Mego to sculpt an Ironman body of my own. Unfortunately I am nowhere near the level of the Cap but I tried....

This is what I came up with. Bare with me, my daughter and I took a lot of pictures to get different angles but I compressed the pictures so they will load faster. I added several of Ironman's Avenger team mates to give you an idea of how close and size proportioned I came when it came to nailing the correct size of the heroes as hey appear together.
If you are a member on my website, you can see other sculpts and projects I have done or I am attempting in this realm.

As a kid, I was always disappointed with my Mego Ironman. I hated that stupid nose on his mask and most of all they gave him a cloth outfit. I know back in the day it would have been impossible to give him something hard or close to armor but oh well...

    Repulsors online!

Compared to his old Mego Ironman and his secret identity Tony Stark. My daughter set these up for shots.

Avengers assemble!!! Very cool looking shots. That Iron Man sculpt was quite the undertaking. You should be proud of yourself, man. It's an accomplishment to get something of that magnitude even finished at all. That's no small feat as any sculptor or customizer around here will tell you.

Keep at it. You'll see as you do more customs, that you'll develop your skills and learn techniques from looking at some of the great work in here by from the people who have been doing it a while like; John, Chris, Derek, Jessica, and many others. As a matter of fact, I think there's just as much talent in here, as there is at some of the major toy companies. There's a lot you can learn if you observe and ask questions.

Take your time. Don't try to rush through your sculpts. Look at good reference and keep at it. Maybe instead of taking 3 or 4 photos of kinda the same thing, concentrate on taking one good one. It's much more impressive. Like I've said before, your passion and love for superheroes is what will keep you inspired and make you better.

Man, you really took on a project! Bravo! I would've just stuck him in there and called it a day. Nice work!

Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

Thank you. I have been bettering my sculpting skills by taking lessons and also advice from a great warrior on this board. A lot of things I was doing earlier worked but would never stand the test of time.
As for the mass of pictures. Blame that on my daughter. She couldn't decide if she wanted to take some down or add them.
I got War Machine and Mysterio on the back burner with some cool sculpting ideas. Hopefully by the end of April I will have one of them completed if I am lucky.
