I kitbashed together these Herman and Grandpa Munster figures from two Applause stuffed dolls several years ago. I was massively irked - call me General Irk-o - that I couldn't match skin tone of the 9" body to Herman's Head. I thought about trying to dye the entire body, but I figured a caucasian body wouldn't take dye so well, and I didn't really want to experiment on a vintage one, especially a relatively rarer 9". So I put them away. And then CTVT released their own Munsters line, so these were far less unique. But a nice little DIY nonetheless.

I still wish I could get a 9" Keeper-colored body, but I think the close-enough for government work solution is to just paint his hands black as if he's wearing gloves.

Anyhow, this is an easy custom. The heads and clothes are mego scale, though someone less lazy than me would take in the waists on the pants (or just buy better fitting ones from Doc Mego); I just stuck a paperclip on in the back. The one thing the Applause body doesn't provide, though, is shoes. Grandpa's wearing some Flatt Dracula shoes and socks. I don't know where Herman's boots came from, though.

The heads go in without too much trouble - I suppose I could've tried hot-soaking them to fit them in, but I cut off a portion of the plug to make them just go in dry.

Herman's head is so big, though, it looks preposterous on an 8" body. It's perfectly scaled for the 9" body, though. (But that body looks REALLY big next to that T1 - did Mego make a 10"?)

His neck is actually narrower than the torso hole, even though the plug is bigger, but friction holds it nicely and it even has some extra articulation because of it.
