I had the chance to experiment on a couple of ideas last weekend for The Mandarin that I have always wanted to complete in some form.
I decided to go with this red look with the gold flames because it stuck out the most in all the pictures I looked at of The Mandarin. The color scheme on this outfit is very flashy and says Mandarin to me. I like how he used alien looking designs combined with a Chinese design with the funky flames at the bottom, it was pretty cool.
I combined two types of material. A almost gold satin and a stretchy red type of material for the long dress. Cutting and combining them together was the task and trying to size them up with the figure took some time, measuring and planning. Ugh!
My daughter has been a fan of the Ironman cartoon that a friend of mine captured from the 90s with the glorious Mandarin as the villain. I never figured out why they made him look like a green looking like a Skrull in that cartoon but besides that it was a nice introduction to my daughter.
The head sculpt is mine after I did surgery on some CTVT's head.
I saw someone else's idea on here awhile ago where he used Fonze hands for the figure. So thanks to Joe I had a few spare bodies to mess with and I plucked the hands off a Fonze body and plopped them on a regular CTVT's body (after some band repairs to the crooked legs). Thank you Joe! All of the stuff you sent I managed to utilize some how! Check out Tony's feet!

"Hello Tony Stark. Put that cell phone down! We must talk!"

"Stand back Mandarin. I have been drinking but my friend Rhodey is going to come kick your ***. I have him on speed dial. -Burp-"

"All right Mandarin, the game is up. I am taking drunken Tony's place again wearing this old clunker outfit."

"Take that Ironman!"

"I got you pipe....."

"I really am buck naked under this robe. Anyone want to see?"
