    Gary Mitchell

Here’s my custom of Star Trek character Gary Mitchell from the original series episode, Where no Man has gone before.

I used a classic tv toys 66 Batman Dick Grayson head, dotted the pupils silver with a toothpick, but looks like most of the eyes ended up silver anyway. I might decide to just paint the whole eye silver? Original mego Star Trek body, Classic toys black pants, playmates shirt altered to fit the 8 inch mego’s.

That's another great one. I would leave the eyes as they are. That's how I do the eyes on my figures(toothpick). The head is a great choice. I appreciate that kind of thing, finding heads that might match the character you're trying to do. I've read some 20 year old posts from some customizers, and that's what they did, before the 3D heads really became common. I wonder if they'll cast another actor as Mitchell on Strange New Worlds as they transition to Kirk next season. The box makes it look even better.

Looks great, and nice use of the Burt Ward head! (The Robert Urich head from the SWAT figure is another decent likeness for Gary Lockwood.)

I think the eyes look great. My only suggestion would be, if he is at that stage with the eyes, you might want to dry brush in the greying temples to give him that "final confrontation with James R Kirk" look.

Thank you. I get the boxes from the Toyroom, he does great work, he can make custom art boxes for 8 inch or 12 inch figures, and cards or if you wanted the kresge style cards.

Yes, the playmates tops can be altered to fit the 8 inch figures, someone here had done a few for customs sometime back, which gave me the idea. I can’t take credit for it though, the customizer I use for Trek outfits did it for me.

Might be a good idea, I wanted to match the eyes with the picture on the box. The 66 Grayson head is pretty good for customs, plus you can always paint the hair other colors if needed.
