New Teen Titans Aqualad

Here is a custom I have been wanting to do for a while. I would love to have all of the original Teen Titans on larger bodies and since it hasn't happened, I have planned attempts at making them myself, along with The Legion of Super-Heroes. When I saw the Bill Fraser Space: 1999 head, it had the curly hair style I was looking for and reminded me of George Pérez's version of Garth. After waiting forever for a cheap one to come along, or even just the head, I had some extra money and bit the bullet, spending WAY too much just for a head.

Before I blabber on more, here is my Aqualad:

First, I have to say...OMGoodness, those early FTC figures were TERRIBLE! The head is super soft (and HUGE) and the body is trash. The clothes were pretty good though.

The recipe is a FTC Type S body, hand and boots (with electrical tape for the stripes at the top), Space:1999 Bill Fraser head, Brian Leitner suit, and the belt 'A' that I had in a box from somewhere.

Besides that huge noggin, I am pleased with him. He looks good with similarly sized head figures, like this ugly Mera custom (are there any good red head female head sculpts out there?):

I like it. It does remind me of the New Titans cover he's on where he's carrying an injured Tula. Re Mera, CTVT does have an 8 inch red headed female body. I think it's a repro of Invisible Girl, just with red hair.

Those early heads are very shrinkable in naptha, whereby they get smaller & firmer.

I was thinking of using that Fraser head for Man from Atlantis lol.

Naptha… I might have to look into that… thanks! The head itself is what I envisioned, but the size is not what I expected.

Yes, that cover wasn’t the only reference for me, but it was definitely one of them.

I was never a big fan of the Sue Storm head. CTVT used to have a nicer looking female red head, but their stock is dwindling and that was long gone. That Mera head isn’t the worst, but I have seen better heads used for customs of her.
