Just a dumb little thing. Hope I didn't raise expectations. I was ten years old in 1978, and obviously a Mego kid, but I never saw the original in the wild. I did read about it years later even before I got back into collecting. Aquaman was always my favorite Mego (don't know why). I looked at the repro set from CTVT, but wasn't paying $80. I did see one on Ebay, but it was over $50 with shipping. Could get more figures for that, but I still debated with myself about it. Mid August last year, while the debate was raging, I stopped in my local Walgreens for some Aleve for a headache. Was passing through the toy aisle and I saw something in the corner of my eye. I literally took a couple backward steps and saw something called a Robo Alive shark. The package was similar, it was the right size for a Mego, and since summer was nearly over, only $12. The lightbulb went on, and I bought it. As I mentioned, I like Aquaman Megos, and got the 50th ann one. I also found a CTVT two pack for cheap on Amazon, so I had three of them. Cracked open the two pack, put one with the shark and viola, a budget "custom". Until I can get a repro for $25-30 range, this is a good stand in. Besides, be honest, as much as we all love Mego, that was the worst looking shark toy ever. There are some videos of the Robo Alive on YouTube. I don't have a picture, but I stuck the Aquaman shark artwork on the box. Thanks for reading.
