Right off the bat I wasn't a fan of the Man From Atlantis series. It came out when I was nine years old, and I had fuzzy memories of it from that time. Maybe I saw a commercial for it. Of course I always knew about it, and the Internet Archive has the complete series, and I did watch the pilot, which was okay. From what I've read about the rest on Wikipedia, I'm not missing much. I can imagine a TV exec talking to his Smithers like underling." Who thought we'd have to shoot in and around water all the time, it's too expensive ". " Well the central character is a merman from Atlantis sir." " Who approved this thing anyway?" " You did sir." Well, we have to figure a way to keep him on land and cut costs. Maybe we can have him go to the old west or meet Romeo and Juliet?" " You're an inspiration sir. People will like that much more. You deserve your stock options and eventual golden parachute ". You might wonder after all that why I decided to do this figure. I had heard that it was speculated that the web hand Aquaman might have been for an eventual figure. I like the idea of doing customs of the rare figures like Mr Rock or Jet Jungle, and doing a "lost" Mego sounded cool. Reliving the Past on Ebay was selling a resin head and I've discovered I'm good at painting them. The Costume is simple too. Also saw a YouTube video from a certain someone about it. Got a web handed Aquaman, painted the head, and made the trunks. Made the pupils on the eyes thin to try to do an otherworldly fish like appearance. The eyes are green, but doesn't show in the pics. Put him in a sleeveless black vest, like a scuba vest. Put the logo on like the Six Million Dollar Man. Tried to do the symbol on the trunks in pen. Mego missed another opportunity. They could have used all those Action Jackson outfits for him when he met Romeo and Juliet or time traveled to the old west. Whew.

I like it, nice job.
I've often considered doing this character & Mr. Schubert, his nemesis. I'm a fan, I have the series, too.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses. -
Thanks for the positive comments. Another reason I did the figure was because I read alot of old posts from ten or twelve years ago, and alot of members then seemed to have a fascination with the character and doing a figure. I guess it was before 3D heads became widely available because they were debating what heads could be used that would most closely resemble Duffy. When I found the head on Ebay, all I had to do was get it and paint it, and the costume is only a pair of trunks and maybe a jacket. Easy. Thought people would get a kick out of it.Comment
