I'm not ashamed to admit...I saw the movie first... and loved it! So of course I went out and started reading the novels. What I really enjoy is seeing all the retro covers on the books dating so far back. You can literally see the evolution of sci fi on those covers.

I chose to model my custom off one of the earlier covers and mixed in elements of the newer looks.

The body is Brent from POTA, with a Superman head. (A full Mego custom this time, HA!)
I figured Superman borrowed much from JC anyway, might as well just use the head.

I might give him a helmet later...but for now, my John Carter is ready to leap into battle.

Your figure looks great! I will admit that I have only ever seen the movies... but as a sci-fi fan, I kind of picked up a lot of John Carter or Mars through osmosis or something. Your John Carter would definitely fit on one of those book covers.

I highly recommend both! The movie would be an easier introduction though. Just an all around fun flick with an Earth super man, a princess and green, four armed martians.

Oh! and a ten legged pitbull alien.
