Beautiful work Mike. I am going to have to hunt down the cartoon.
Check out Hulu.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Look around abit. They have a section on the cartoon. Could save you a bit of time with the artwork.
Please keep us updated on the boxart. I'm working on some more custom cartoon apes and I'm sure your boxes would look nice with my figures.

I know Hunter. Before they actually released it, him and I got together and transferred my old VHS recordings of the cartoon to DVD. I recorded them in the late 80's from WPIX. They were basically complete but omitted the opening and closing credits for all but one episode.
My biggest connection as a kid to POTA and what made me want the Mego POTA stuff was the the cartoon and the TV series. I don't think I actually saw any of the movies until middle school or junior high.
Loved the cartoon and you have done a great job of capturing it! Love what you have done, Dude.
Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"
I've since plugged in new faces for Corny, Zira, Urko and Zaius, did some redrawing on Zaius's and Urko's bodies and added the last names to the astronauts. Updated pic soon.
Meanwhile here's how things looked in the beginning:
All the new faces are in place and most of the redrawing is done and I just need to do some more little tune ups here and there. But this will not be the final version as I will soon be adding figures for Solider Ape and Krador for someone else but this version will stand for the original person that got these.
