Black Widow (Natasha Romanova)

I made this for my a daughter and a tribute to my friend Alberto Malnati!

Russ Gould sent me one of those dime a dozen Mary Ellen Walton heads after I decided that we needed a Black Widow in our collection.
My uncle pushed me into getting rid of Mary Ellen's dark brown hair and I took that extra and painful step and sucessfully completed my second re-root job.

I basically turned an inbred looking farm girl into a beautiful red haired Russian Spy girl. I can't wait to see her in Ironman 2. I love Natasha and seeing her on the silver screen will be amazing.


This is a shot of her before the red hair job, when she had the poopy brown hair that didn't look right...


The suit is a Famous Cover's Black Widow suit that I took apart and took it in along with the Black Widow's bracelets and belt.
I am still debating on giving her a boob job and making her **** a few sizes biger then the norm. Natasha Romanova has big hooties. This looks too small.

Neither did I until I came home from work one day any my daughter had printed out somebody's tutorial on hair re-rooting.
She said, "Dad this looks easy. I want to make a Polaris (green hair) and a Black Widow".

So, with the help of several members on here we gathered some ugly female heads with bad hair but nice faces. Russ Gould was a big help BTW. Some of you know him. He is the guy that got accused of being the evil Russ when he fist joined. Mr. Gould is a good friend of mine and he sent over a Mary Ellen head.
We immediately removed the hair and "de-plugged" all of the brown crappy hair.
My daughter tried using a straightening on it right away before we de-plugged it and she found out that it isn't real hair but plastic and it melted the hair into a giant clump, so we had to de-plug it for sure.


Following all the steps. It took quite awhile because her and I took turns plugging the red strands into the hole.
(We're not going to talk about the first re-root experiment. Let's just say it didn't turn out good.)

Well, now ugly farm girl Mary Ellen is now the Russian spy known as Natasha Romanova AKA the Black Widow.

100% happy. I didn't like the pain staking hour of re-rooting job but it beats that crappy Walton doo she had. I can see why people charge an arm and a leg to re-root these doll heads. I don't think I would have the patience to do this.
If you are looking for someone to do this and you don't have the patience try asking Matt (Spiderouge). I think his wife does them and they look pretty good. I am debating on having him do my daughter's Polaris unless I can work up the patience to do it.

Great job Cat! As for the boob job I'm sure a large bust line would help in her line of work, even if she is drawn that way. She would have to strap'em down so it wouldn't throw off her balance when clammering over rooftops and such. Hell this is fantasy, go porno big!

I must of missed this. LOL
Yeah, we just gave her a boob job and a bleather leather jacket. Not sure about the jacket because it hides the boobs. So, we'll have to decide on it before I take new pix.
