Mego presents: The Man called Nova

One of my all time favorite heroes from the 70's and one I always wanted Mego to make. First let me thank Jason (aka BlackKnight) for his invaluable help in introducing me to some special talents that made this whole custom possible - This outfit was custom made by Brian Leitner. As professional as any outfit I could have hoped to buy off the shelf (awesome job Brian!); I customized the boots from a pair of Dr. Mego Klingon boots cut to fit; Head by Russ, painted by me; the body is a vintage Mego(type 2) originally from a scarecrow figure, so the hands were already the proper color; And once more the box is another masterpiece made by Anthony (aka Toyroom). The box was inspired by the cover artwork on issue one back in '77.

Nova only made it to issue 25 in the 70's but I enjoyed them all...

I love the way Anthony blends the artwork into the side panels. Nice touch!!

I try to keep my customs in the Mego vein so they can sit side by side with my vintage collection. Once more thanks to Jason, Brian, Anthony, and Russ for bringing all of these parts together to build the hero I've waited 32 years see. Thank you gentlemen. It was worth the wait!

            That's looks real good.

            I like all of him---
but I REALLY love the approach on the head---
            great sculpt, cast and paintjob.

(I want a Megoey NOVA a lot myself at the moment!)

Thanks! Still kicking around head sculpts on BigFoot. I've done two, even sculpted one over the head of a CTVT Dracula to give him glow in the dark eyes, but...ultimately...I didn't think it worked. Still trying to figure out the puzzle on that one. Ironically the rest has been fairly simple to figure out with the fur and body and a detachable arm (wires and all) for the bionic fight with Steve. I also won me an Oscar Goldman head off Ebay and am working on putting that together. Alas it's very hard to make an Oscar Goldman figure that gets you...excited? But he's coming together. Just trying to figure out a presentation that makes him viable. It would be nice to have a minature exploding briefcase.

Great Job.... I was upstate in Lake George many years ago after giving up comics as a kid when we went to the general store and I picked up the first issue of Nova....

I was hooked on comics again from that day on!

That's very nice. Quite Mego-ee. Captured the character and the era well.

He reminded me of young Peter Parker trying to deal with life and now super powers....... Even though the series fell of after about 12 issues (imo) it's still agood read!

Great job! I really dig Nova, too.

Is the suit navy blue? I've seen black versions, too. I'm wondering about colors in my design.
