I did the card and the figure was done by my English friend Marty Gainsford. I never heard of the guy (who must've been some sort of Evil Knievel type daredevil that got made into a comic).
Actually I have not heard of him, but he did a really nice clean job on the Figure, and he really looks good. Nicely done.
"Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."
I had the comics, still do. He was a real stunt man. I think what made him special was that he was in a "stunt gone wrong" and was beat up pretty bad, told he'd never walk again... but through pure determination and plenty of rehab. he comes back and performs stunts again as " The Human Fly "
I always thought it was cool as a kid because he was a real person.
Awesome! That card is perfect and the figure is amazing!
I have the entire run of The Human Fly (19 issues, I think). He was a childhood favorite. I would have loved to have had a Human Fly Mego as a kid and I naively looked for Mego to make one because, c'mon, who wouldn't buy that! (My 9-year-old reasoning)
I have a couple issues of the old comic (did it last much longer than that?). Always liked the way the character looked, and you've nailed him.
Anybody know if this guy is still around? I now he was real, and remember the stories about him, but I never saw him on the news or anything...just what the comic mentioned.
