    Haunted Glo-Mummy

    So....

I FINALLY finished the outfit for my "Haunted Glo-Head" mummy:

If anyone's doing a custom mummy, a good trick with the outfit is to sew a regular bodysuit but drape thin strips of cloth across what'll be the outside. When you finish and inside-out it you'll have a number of loops that can be flipped around the figure. They look like wraps but won't come all undone.

      >Love the head.

He's based on a model kit from the "Haunted Glo-Heads" series; made in the mid to late 70's. There's a real good pic of the mummy at thegalleryofmonstertoys.com in the 70's wing. There were four, and they were done like museum busts of the monsters. The mummy is the most common, and the easiest to find pics of.

There are three more: a vampire, werewolf and apeman. I HAVE made the heads (the molds are currently hardening) but I'm not super-sure how close the likenesses are, since I couldn't find good pics of the other three.

I love your mummy Don. He's the ugliest mummy I've seen on an 8" body.... And your sewn wraps idea is too clever. Glad to see you post. I thought maybe you had retired.............

Nah. I ran out of money, so I had a bunch of half finished molds sitting in the workshop.

Awesome job Don. His head is killer! You need to yellow his suit or age it some how. Good stuff indeed

I had three of those kits (no Apeman) as a kid & they were terrific!! Very intigued to see them adapted as figure heads. What about hands?

I'd never heard of them, which is weird since I've been a HUGE monster model fan since I was a kid. They must have been rare, 'cos it's hard to find pics or info about them. Made by General Mills/Fundimensions, same folks who made the Gigantics insect kits. (Which are also impossibly nifty, but a lot easier to find.)

                      >What about hands?

I haven't made ones more accurate to the kits as of yet. I ended up with a LOT of CTVT monster bodies, and was looking for monsters to make, which is why I did these. So I decided to leave the glow hands as is.

                      For now.
