The sound effects piece should be here by the weekend or sometime early next week. I will hopefully have it all done and waiting for that last part by the time it arrives

Playset will feature both working lights AND actual sound effects!

    Stay tuned....
That is a killer looking playset. I have one like this, but without the lights and sound effects, that is just plain awesome

New footage, eh? Guss I will have to look into that

The blu rays are the best because you can have both versions. You can have the remastered versions with the surround stereo track or the original versions with the original mono soundtrack.

One of my pet peeves with TOS DVD's is that from the beginning (even going back to the 2 episode per disc releases)they had surround stereo remixes on the shows that sometimes deviated from the original material (i.e. a similar but different music cue and adding ship sound to the exterior Enterprise shots even when the original had none).

It's a lot of fun to watch the original effects in high definition. There was one Enterprise orbit shot where the matte hole for the ship and the image of the ship was so out of whack it The Enterprise looked like it had a traveling shadow. And I also love the shot, used only once in "Dagger Of The Mind" where the Enterprise is approaching a planet and it appears it's almost flying sideways.

Even though the effects they did for most of Star Trek including The Tholian Web were amazing especially for being in the late 60's, a lot of the effects look very vintage sci-fi now based on the CGI technology we have all become accustomed to seeing not only in the movies but now on TV as well.
The original Star Trek effects for The Tholian Web were for the time very state of the art and very impressive, but I have to say that the new Tholian web effects CBS/Paramount added to the remastered DVD set are absolutely stunning
    Original, not remastered

Thanks. I just updated the pictures to better show that the bright strobe lights are now colored creating lighting effects similar to what we see in the episode.
