    Prince Namor

I decided to do another Prince Namor mego. I did one last year and I was not happy with the head that I got. It didn't really make me think of Namor when I looked at it. Plus, I used a ****ty CTVT's body and he looked like he was suffering from Scoliosis.
So, I turned to Paul Clark (Dr. Mego) who gave me some excellent advice on how to create neck plugs for Famous Cover heads so they fit on mego bodies. I took a Famous Cover's Mister Sinister head and filed the head down and made pointed ears out of sculpey and rebuilt the jaw and forehead a bit also.
After I plugged the head, I made the belt and created a gold plated clam shell on his belt buckle (seen in early Marvel Namor appearances).
The wing ankles, I didn't want to glue anything on that would snap off. So I made some wing anklets out of scupley and glued them around his ankles an made sure they were bounded down and cannot be chipped off.

I am really upset about this picture. It appears that my head and body are two different colors. They are not.
Everytime I snapped Namor, the flash did something and made his head and body look two toned. Maybe I will use someone else's camera and take a better picture later. Ugh!

On deck. I have a brand new Dr. Mego female body that I am working on a Ms. Marvel. I will keep you posted.

    He doesn't look TOO bad.

Is this your first time trying to sculpt a Namor head? I always did think that his head looked weird in the comics.

Don't be too upset about the picture, sometimes pictures come out like dreck even though the subject is just fine.

I like the belt you made for him, and the seashell.

Doesn't Doc have a pointed ear head on his site? Maybe you could use that as a base for your next custom?

I'm looking forward to the Ms. Marvel.

Which version are you going to do? Classic? New?

A lot of people have heads with pointy ears but they just don't look like Namor. Namor is a crucial character to me because he has always been "one of my favs" since I was a kid and he was a key star in the Defenders.
I remember making a custom out of him as a kid using Conan belt/bracelets, green Robin shorts and a Mister Spock head.
I remember a lot of my friends saying, "What is Mister Spock wearing"
It used to **** me off.

That is why when I decided to finally make him nowadays. I wanted Namor to be Namor. Not some reconfigured Mister Spock head or Elf or whatever...
So, that is why I took his odd look from the early appearances and elongated his chin and forehead to match his long pointed ears. To give Namor that original look.

Ms. Marvel? Oh yes. She will be in her best outfit. Which I think is the black one and I will be taking the same effect I used on my Storm mego's boots to do Ms. Marvel. I can't wait for that new Dr. Mego female body to get here. I am so excited to see it!!

I think that head actually works pretty well. This is not a complicated character, but you're right. The details count or he doesn't come out looking like Namor, but a revamped spock.

I can't help it and I don't know if I'm the only one who sees it ( please don't take this the wrong way wrath ) Again it may just be me but in the forward looking pics I see the features of Henry Rollins. I think it's mostly the mouth and jaw line. It's kind of like if Henry went to a costume party dressed as Namor.
Getting past that, this is a mego "should have made" figure for sure, and I like what you came up with to fill that void!
