    Rick Springfield-Comic Book Hero!

*This is one the Aussies on this forum will appreciate!*

In 1973, Rick Springfield, (still sporting his Australian accent) came out w/ his second album, "Comic Book Heroes". A very good friend of mine is a major Rick Springfield fan (as well as a Shaun fan, which is why we're friends! ), and she's always sending me things, so I decided to make her this Rick Springfield figure. Besides w/ an album called "Comic Book Heroes", it practically screams action figure!

Head: CTVT Astronaut head, reworked and painted by our very own ape diva, Jessica! (thanks Jess! )
Body, belt, gloves, and cape: Doc Mego
    Jumpsuit and boots: CTVT
    Emblem: an iron-on I made w/ my t-shirt w/ the same graphic
Package backer card front: taken from front and back of the album
Package backer card back: designed by me!
    Clamshell package: Doc Mego

It's like he stepped right out of an episode of "Mission Magic"!

Are you working on getting him a Mego-sized guitar?

Here are some closeup shots. Taken before I scraped off the excess rubber and repaint of his neck. He's got the slightest hint of blush on his cheeks. Thought that would make him cuter.

              Rick Springfield-Comic Book Hero!

I used to LOVE that cartoon! I had no idea at that time that Rick Springfield was an actual person. (In my defense I was about eight to ten years old, and we didn't have any of his music in the house.)

I tuned in to watch it every week, and loved Ms. Tickle and her cat Tut-Tut!

The kids were okay, but I was mostly interested in Ms. Tickle, Tut-Tut, Rick and his owl (whose name escapes me).

I have no clue about the cartoon, as the first time I saw or heard of it was at HardyGirl's house a few weeks ago. If it's not on the Planet of the Apes, chances are I am most probably unaware...

Yeah, this album was released 1 year before that cartoon debuted (and sadly it didn't chart from what I've been told due to some contraversy over his first album). I think Rick (and Filmation) adopted the look from the album for Mission: Magic. I was about 6 and 1/2 or 7 when it premiered and I watched it every week. (but I did know he was real )

And his owl's name was Ptolemy.

No, since he didn't have one on the album cover.
