Just a what if - 14" Mego Custom Paul Stanley Starchild

I was playing around and thought, why not.
Lil bit of 3d scanning (actually a lot because it was a total pain in the arse)..few hours of 3d printing...
Personal project just for me, I will not be offering the head.

Here's the rough draft. Still need some minor neck area modification, but once that is done, whip up the spandex outfit and some platform boots...rock n roll.

I can't wait to see this Chad. I also see David St. Hubbins in that sculpt.

been working on design, and the Buy 2 get 1 Free deal helped get fodder....

General Zod is getting a make-over...slowly but surely.
Since the upscaled 8" Starchild head has a neck, I modded the torso to lower the head.
Unstitched all the grey and red fabric from the Zod coat and added some silver.

while his clothes are soaking in dye, went ahead and painted the head.

minor unexpected setback...Zod's grey pants did not accept the Rit Dye very well...they darkened up, but no where near black. Dang...

Are you trying the stovetop method (makes for a hotter dye-bath) and using the dye for synthetics? Try doubling the amount of dye and adding some salt to the bath. Stir constantly, 20-30 minutes. Rinse the tights in warm water, then cold water, and dry.

If this works, be aware--the dyed fabric can stain the figure's legs.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

ohh, if it needed 20-30mins of stirring, then I failed lol
I microwaved a cup of water to 200 degrees, added a good tablespoon of the liquid Rit Dye for synthetics...didn't like the results after a few minutes..made a new batch of water...doubled the Rit...and nada.

I did do the stovetop method and it helped get the dye to set better, but despite the over zealous amount of black dye i used, the black still is not near as black as it should be....gonna just have to make the outfit

I'm sorry, I don't know what else to suggest. Sometimes synthetic fabrics are just too resistant and you can only tint them.

I'll bet you can find a pair of 1/6-scale black leggings or tights that would still fit the figure.

no worries bro - it did cook the color in...very little rinsed out afterwards.
if i did it 2 or 3 more times it would probably take, but I ain't got no time for that lol

whelp, productive day with the help of The Boy. He sewed me some pants and those arm sleeve thingies.
Used my vinyl cutter to make his boot covers and stars.
