Turning Doc Mego hero boots into boots for the fastest man alive...
How is the Magic Sculpt attached to the boots? I hope they are not just laying on the surface of the boot. These softer plastic do not provide the best surface for fusion. Even scoring the surfaces first, can fail in the bonding process.
If I was to attempt this, first I would cut flat the boot tops. Flash's boots do not have a pointed top. Next I would heat a small paperclip wire and melt two holes side by side. Then insert the wire at each end, from the inside of the boot. Using my finger to hold the wire flat against the inside, bend and twist the wire on the outside of the boot just enough to hold it on, not enough to tear the plastic between the holes. Trim excess wire and sculpt boot wing on top of paperclip twist.
Oh snap! I didn't even think of there being a fusion issue. Thanks for pointing that out and thanks for the tips on doing it in a way that yields better results.
The wings stayed bonded to the boots while I was Dremeling the boot tops off but, they popped off while sanding and cleaning up the freshly cut boot top edges.
Thanks again to Dr. Cyclops, I will definitely follow your advice on future boot mods as I suspect I will be modifying a pair of boots for Darth Malgus.
Thanks to Relic for the krazy/super glue suggestion, it provided a simple fix for my naive oversight in the planning of this project.
Hey Dr Cyclops wouldnt a small staple gun do all that for you? Pop in staple, add media on top. Just a thought.
Perhaps a small staple would work. I would look to poke the hole with the staple first. Then insert the staple from the inside of the boots, folding the staple ends on the outside of the boots.
