Merged traditional sculpting and 3d scanning. The Lizard!

Inspired by megospidey's Lizard, I'm trying my own.
Using a Calibos leg I designed as the base, I broke out some clay and went to work.
Using a T-Rex model I made years ago as comparison, I added some clay and started shaping.

I have to be mindful of undercuts and details...so I didn't get all to crazy because I won't be able to reproduce my sculpt exactly...

Here's a couple shots of the process and a medium resolution test print.
We can then mirror the leg in the software and walla...right and left lizard legs...or whatever monster we want to make.

Wow! And then some. SWEET LEGS!
Custom body parts are so needed in the ReMego custom world. Now we need new Lizard hands.

Fantastic job what an amazing tool.

          thanks!
Sean mirrored the leg in the software and we printed a right and left out in high res last night.
They worked fine, but after looking at them a bit, I think anatomically, they are wrong.
I went with that "claw" look for the toenails - but if there's a 200+lb character putting weight on the feet - there wouldn't be that arch under the foot.
So I think I am going to have Sean try in the software to level the bottom of the foot a bit or make some bends to make the toes go upwards as if stress was on them.

The ability to tweak after-the-fact is doubly cool.
Had I broke out the silicone and resin, I'd had to have waited hours and wasted product.
3D scanning and 3D printing allows for rapid prototyping.

I bet I had that foot sculpted in 1.5hrs.
          Scanned in an hour.
Medium res print in 1.5 hours.
Two high res legs at same time in 4hrs.

There'll prolly be 30mins of software tweaks at most if he can do what I think we can.

We can all admit that you have made a pact with the devil for quality this superb.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

WOW Chad! Those are GREAT! I'd buy a pair! Any chance of a Lizard Head sculpt? I'm thinking a Gil Kane style would be perfect!

                    Thanks folks for the comments.
I've been asked a bit about offering parts, so it is something I will put closer the the front of my mind and consider how I'd do it. I've been thinking about a store in the mall.

A little progress on my sculpt.
Sean mirrored the leg in the software, and made the changes to the foot I asked for.
I wanted to see if he could flatten the feet since my sculpt pronounced the claws so much, and he was able.

Here are two versions...heck, I might use one of each on the figure to make his pose dramatic.

Just Awesome! Chad, if you do produce and sell some....do you think it's possible to get them cast in a darker color green that matches the original Mego Lizard?
