A little update on the project.
    Walt is coming together nicely.
Face is partially painted in this shot, which is why he sports the Oscar shades.
Still working on some other things...

He will always be Watley from Seinfeld to me. He was also doug and carries neighbor on King of Queens.

That looks great. I'd definitely be in for one.

thanks. He has been fun to work on thus far.

Of items I've pondered putting with him, a respirator felt an obvious choice given I put him in a hazmat suit.
I broke out the clay and sculpted onto one of my unpainted heads.
Took me perhaps90 minutes and a couple tries to get what my brain was seeing, but for a novice it works.
I then baked it, and tossed it in my 3D scanner to make a digital file.

Now, I can 3D print em all day long and tweak for other characters (Sean mentioned he wants to make Mortal Kombat figures with it now).

once I did the baking and 3D scanning, and then did a 3D print, my respirator shrunk a tad..so quite easily in the software I bumped its scale up 110% and printed it a bit larger and walla.

This pic shows the clay master and a couple quick/rough prints as I tested scale.
Another example of how we married the traditional method of creation with creation of 21st century.
We went from concept, prototype, digital output and it takes 18 mins to print a high-res respirator on my machine….all that in the matter of about four hours.

If I've never said it outloud here, lemme say Sean is very patient.
3D design is tedious work and sometimes a bit out of our reach right now. We've had to turn down PMs asking if we can 'make this' or 'make that' because we are still growing.

But, with some pics of Walter in one of his many different frames, Sean drew me a pair.
I watched over his shoulder being his toughest critic...and The Boy came through.

Y'all know how big a mego head is...just imagine how small these glasses are...so small, i can barely hold them.

                glasses.jpg

I'm really impressed they even printed on this makerbot...course, in our fashion, it was a little bit of a trick I used, but nonetheless....it worked LOL.
We can have a pair of these glass ready for a figure in about five minutes.

Surprisingly, they are not as fragile as they may seem. The material has a little bit of flex since it is so small. I thought at first glance they'd snap right in half being brittle...but they're not. Course, you're not gonna get all crazy and bend them abnormally, but you get my point.
