    New printer

My (hobby) business partner and I got a new 3D printer called the B9 Creator.

I'm pretty happy with the results so far:

The Iron Man head on the left is too small for Mego and the one on the right is too big, although the neck plug works perfect on both. Hopefully the next head I print out will be just right!

I will bring some samples to Mego Meet to compare with noelani72 & Legend of Link's results.

    ohhh snap!
Just bring the printer (we are) ;-)

Our has been doing pretty good lately - thought it took a dump the other day and got worried, but I was able to clear the clog without needing parts.
I'm also doing experimental stuff for the company to help them make it better.

^^yessir...time is getting nearer for a library of 3D files here.
With all of ours, Paul and Mike's innovation win this new area, it is only gonna grow.

Folks will begin to get educated on 3D printers, and how they are all not created equal.
Paul's is one way, mikes another, and ours is another..all with benefits, some of which I still want to learn about.

The objet printer mike has access to is the beast...prolly best, but way expensive for home use.
Paul's can get to 50 microns, whereas mine only gets to 100. But, build plates sizes, print times...it all begins to enter into the equation of what suits the end user best.

The level if customizing for this board is on the cusp of explosion.
Lets prepare...tell Joe we need some storage space for file hosting of the digital .STL files and get Scott working on a new forum!! ;-)

Awesome! Look forward to what you cook up with that thing.

Oh... and it took me a while to catch on that the name is a pun... pretty clever.

I printed the Iron Man heads at 75 microns -- the small one took 2 hours, the big one took about 3 hours.

The B9 guy is working on a resin formula for 25 microns:

I just need him to make other colors besides red.

Wow! I think you're getting a lot more detail than I was able to get with the printer I was using. I think the detail on the small, red disc is better than even Shapeways materials.

Just to be clear, I haven't printed anything at 25 microns yet. The inventor of the printer is working on a different formula of the resin to get that result with the same printer I have.

I plan to try 50 microns to see how is differs from the 75 microns I've already tried.

Interesting samples. To me, the resolution is important to be competitive with cast items. The ability to manipulate scale is amazing though.

Yeah, I have a lot of empathy for Bif Bang Pow on how hard it is to get the perfect scale. Your eye really picks up on a head being just a little too big or too small.

I think I'm tolerant of heads just a tad too big--most vintage Mego heads are slightly large but feel compensated by clothing. But Paul, you're right.
