1/6 Tarzan

I still have quite a bit of work to do on him--weathering his loincloth and feet, wigging him, touching up his knife, stuff like that. He's made from a ACI Toys base Andrew 1.1 body, a head from Kaustik Plastik's KP01A figure, a spear and shield from what are apparently two different sets based on The Battle of Rorke's Drift from the Anglo-Zulu War, and a K-Bar knife from DML. The Kaustik head won't fit the ACI neck post properly, so there was some tinkering there, but it worked out okay. The lasso is just some hemp cord I found in the jewelry stringing section of Michaels. The hardest part by far was the loincloth, though--to hide the joints properly, I had to figure out how to make one and actually had to make a pattern and do some sewing. This is nothing for a lot of you guys and gals (go ahead and laugh at the newb, it's cool ), but it was my first time. I actually had to study Gordon Scott films to figure out how it was made--there's surprisingly more to it than I'd thought. The locket is made from a piece from a DML Andre Marek Timeline figure with gold wire replacing the brown string to simulate the chain. It's pretty much a kitbash with a lot of fussing.

At any rate, I'm hoping to post a finished version in a couple weeks that looks considerably better. He needs a lot of tweaking still, but I hope you like what I have so far.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think ACI might be moving on from the Andrew Ver. 0, because Cotswold is out and there's nothing to suggest they're getting more in. Plus, they're going to be using a new body they worked up for the upcoming Spartacus figure that's essentially an Andrew w/ mid-torso articulation. I have no problem with this, apart from figures that are showing the torso like this Tarzan or a Conan custom. When Kaustic Plastik releases the "Momoa" head, I'll probably stick it on a KP02A, although the ACI is closer to the right size (build-wise) for a Momoa version of Conan.

Not soon enough, BK. I know it's done, but that's about it. I think Fabio said on another board sometime soon, but I can't remember. Unless I'm mistaken, they're still working on getting the rights to Conan, too. This Conan will be based on Frazetta's art, though--not Momoa or Arnold (that would make the licensing cost prohibitive for them). I'd be happy with any of them--I like all those versions of the character. I also trust them to do a kick-butt version--they're an awesome company, and they're fans just like us.

very nice reminds me of the mike henry tarzan, and as far as the sewing goes,remember he was raised by apes not too many sewing classes in the jungle.

Thanks again, guys--I'd actually kind of forgot about posting this thread. I have a silicone cap and wig for him, but the more I look at the sculpt, the more it seems like a perfectly fine Edwardian hairstyle for an English lord (if he was the character from The Return of Tarzan onward). I lifted a bow, arrows, and quiver from DML's "Subadai the Mongol" figure, and they work extremely well. Once I dirty him up a bit (I'm debating how much, I don't know if I want to get him as dirty as Christopher Lambert was, although that was probably the most realistic), I'll post more pics in the finished area.

The body especially reminds me of Mike Henry, like hawkmike said; however, the loincloth design was totally ripped off the Gordon Scott version. Of all the versions, his was definitely the best for hiding the leg/hip joints.

One note concerning swapping Kaustic Plastic, ACI, and Hot Toys parts: I mentioned this before, but it bears repeating if you are considering this--although ACI and KP are both made to be able to switch parts (hands, heads, etc) with HT parts, the KP head will not fit on the ACI neck socket. I had assumed it would, but no dice. Even if it would, it would ride too low, IMO. I just epoxied it on as far as it would fit and it really doesn't inhibit the movement in the least. Just be careful to keep the epoxy inside the head socket. I'm afraid anything beyond that will reduce the head's movement.
