    Skeletor Dragon Blaster Begins!

    So,
I have been wanting to do a Skeletor Mego for awhile, as I was pleased with my Hordak figure (which can be seen below in the pics.)

I decided to go with Dragon Blast Skeletor, because its one of the only Skeletor figures with the full chest armor. I think the full chest armor works well to give the illusion of the buff chest these figures typically have. I like the mods people have done to get the MOTU chest pieces onto the Mego body, but I prefer less permanent modifications. For now, at least. I am contemplating creating a Battle Armor Skeletor Mego style.

Anywho, here are the prelim photos of me testing the armor out on various bodies. I actually liked the idea of using Phantom Limb's suit underneath, but I can't get a cool blue body anywhere that would best approximate the Skeletor skin tone. The Castaways blue body would be perfect, but that isn't happening anytime soon, if ever. I have done the Rit dyeing before, but I am not sure I could achieve such a light blue. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am looking at using a red bodysuit underneath with Purple gloves and boots. I think the color scheme might compliment the armor quite well.

I will be testing an original MOTU Skeletor head, because I really like the nostalgia factor. However, if it proves too small, I am thinking of using a Jason Foster head from the Twilight Zone line. WIth the addition of a hood and a repainting of the eyes, it might be even better.

Very cool. I bought a bunch of those white Hulk bodies that are taller to use for customs and have been sitting on them for a while with no ideas. Maybe a He-Man or Skelator would be perfect for these muscle bodies.

Somewhere there's a tutorial on how to adapt a MOTU torso to Mego body. I'm sure someone knows where it is. That will bulk up the upper body. I would think putting MOTU legs on a Mego set up would be fairly easy too. Gotta make em squat. Guess you could use Mattel's retro action bodies. They squat naturally right out of the package.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

          Your Hordak is cool.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

            The color hunt continues

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I actually don't want them short like the old MOTU. I just wanted to maintain the face and armor if I could. I like them being nice and tall, next to all my other 8". I have seen the tutorial on adapting the bodies. It is pretty involved, but I would like to try and modify it. I am thinking I could get Mego legs into the He-Man lower torso. The question is what to do about the arms. Especially because I would like to use a Battle Armor figure, keeping the action feature intact.

I have some of the muscular bodies as well, the only problem is that the heads really look out of portion with them, if you use original heads. The exception being Hordak. His head looks just fine because of the large crown he sports.

Just thought I'd add another photo of my color matching efforts as I work to get a good suit for underneath.

I was considering going with the blue of Skeletor, but I think I would rather go with some sort of red or purple instead. I do love the skeleton head with it, though.

Beside him is a quick kit bash of Fisto, minus his huge fist. That will going him at a later date.
