Somebody told me I was full of **** when I said I made that C3PO figure out of a new Retro Action body.
So, I found the pictures of the step by step sculpting process. Make all the jokes you want or enjoy the pictures.
OK. This by no way is how to make a C3PO figure. This is just the various steps I did by using a Black Manta Retro Action figure. First you pop off the circular dome and under neath is just a small gray half of a head that fits nicely inside a pez head....much like a C3PO
First of all, if you have no experience sculpting stuff. You might want to practice for awhile before attempting this.
You can bake sculpty after you place it on a body by using one of those long grill lighters just be careful not to melt the plastic of the doll. Never use a cheap cigarette lighter. It can't stand the long periods of holding the flame and it will break. Heating up seconds of sculpty that you have made and added to the doll helps when you want to sand it down before adding more pieces. Trust me, it's a ***** and it might crack but it will work. Don't give up!

Step one...
Getting the Pez head to fit the black body. I cut a Black Manta head in half and glued it inside the C3P0 pez head. I filled it in with sculpty, baked it with a lighter and filed it down smoothly and added the paint later.

Step two I slowly started sculpt the torso piece and get and idea how it will look.

Step three I keep adding to the torso piece, slowly sculpty and baking it hard with a lighter

Step Four I add a few more pieces. After I bake it with the lighter I smooth it out with sand paper. This is a before shot as I add shoulders

Step five I keep adding more and more sculpty, baking and sanding....the process keeps going on and on for a bit.

Step six after I finish up the body, smooth it up and add the first layer of gold paint to match the head

Step seven I start to play with the center piece of the torso by gluing wires, painting various wires to a black background in the center of his torso. I added a ring around his neck color and painted it gold. The knees are important to sculpt. Get a dime and cut about four circles out of the dime sharp. Bake them and glue them over a new knee you can sculpt. It takes awhile to play with when making a knee and adding the circles you made.

Step Eight
I added the bars that go on his arms. They are found in the center of where his arm bends. Adding a few pieces of sculpty and baking it then adding paint. Make sure you cut out some dime sized caps for his knees and bake them and glue them on also. It makes the knees look authentic to.

The finished project after adding more sculpty, smoothing out some lumps and adding another coat of shiny gold to go over the stuff to make it look better. The Inca gold I used requires about 4 coats for it to look authentic.

Notice the inside of the bottom of his torso. The black background with the various wires. You have to almost have a picture of C3PO in front of you to give you an idea where to paint or add wires...etc
