    You know...that's an excellent idea!

I'll see what I can do...can't work on it right now...but I'll get going this Monday.

    Thanks, T Man...

I think I can still tweak one of the globes...it has simpler frame...and I can both cut and add metal...I'll experiment.

The one that I might just leave as is, is this one...

New globe - a set on Flickr

I think I'm just going to paint and add the letters...but man...it's just such in pristine condition...I almost feel bad messing with it...

Yeah, they are both cool looking globes and i would hate to see them get messed up.I dont know if you were planning on doing these mods yourself or was going to have someone else do it.In either case i wouldn't touch that aluminum one with any heat source(welder). If its an aluminum alloy potmetal, its near impossible to weld. You might be better off like you said and just leaving that one alone and just adding the letters. It can be cut and tilted,i have some pics to show but i have to run my kid somewhere and i'm late already .I'll post those when i get back.

Yeah, I'm aware one is aluminum...but the other one is steel.

I'm going to leave the aluminum alone, but will look into T Bolt's advice...and try to tweak from the bottom somehow....but no cutting...if I can't tweak it...I'll leave it as is.

But the steel one might be cut...and yes...I'll be the one doing it...or what's the point of it all if I can't make a custom item by myself, lol.

Yes, I have welded a bit...I know someone who will let me work in his shop, lol.

        Looking forward to your pics.

Thats cool that you have somebodies shop you can do this in,that will help out alot.Ok,here's my (no welding) idea for the aluminum one.Sorry about the crappy hand drawn pics, lol.Instead of trying to add metal to one side to get the tilt, you can cut metal off 3 supports to tilt it.Figure out how much of a tilt you want and how much you need to cut off, then you can make a template out of cardboard of the support and put that at the low points and trace that onto the supports. You could cut it with a die grinder with a small cutting wheel or whatever. You will probably have to enlarge the holes a little in the ring too. Then i would cut the nubs off that stick up past the ring and fill those holes using JB Weld. It will look like this as far as where the ring and letters will end up. I did think about, like T-Bolt suggested, just shifting the whole thing. It looks like it may be bolted in the center there. Then you have to reattach to the base somehow and the bolt hole? with the black plastic covering is shifted and i dont know if that looks right.Couple more crappy pics of that. Ok,i'm done with my ideas, however you decide to do it,i'm looking forward to seeing some future progress pics and of course the finished custom. Its going to be Cool!!!
