With no clothes and naked I am....

I started Yoda last night. I'm trying to figure out what kind of clothes to make. I know he wears robes and I am currently crafting his light saber.
I love being on this Star Wars kick. I know it will come to an end soon so I am trying to get as many done as I can.

I am also looking for anyone who has a custom Leia, Luke, Han Solo and Lando Mego head sculpts for sale? I knew one guy but he said he is out of business.
I can sculpt them, it just takes more time. People like Jessica have given me confidence to do my own sculpts. She is amazing.

But as for my Yoda, I may have to do some filing on his toes and fingers. I just noticed he has less fingers and toes.

OMG Cat he's so awesome. Only thing I suggest is sculpting more feet on him for stability...If you can find a gauzy fabric that you can dye with tea, that may be the way to go. Womens blouses at your local thrift shop would be your best bet.

    To do list:
1:6 boots for Mathilda, 1:1 Romulan Commander outfit, Ursus helmet; Cornelius appliance
    1:9 scale ape's new suit for Cornelius;

I used an Indiana Jones head i bought off Ebay, added some hair with Sculpty and it worked great for Han Solo,if you cant find something else, you can go that route.

            Part Two

OK. Like I always do with my latest Star Wars customs. I have been doing this little fun thing showing the step by step progress.

My sculptor friend and the one I admire most in that business (Jessica) mentioned that I should make feet so that the Yoda figure would be better standing.

So, last night I sculpted the feet and hands. It took me about and hour looking back and forth at the pictures of Yoda until I was satisfied.

Then I made the first layer of his clothes. This is some kind of brown gunny sack looking outfit. I couldn't get the right brown that I wanted so I dyed some ratted old material....making the house smell and boy that stuff smells when you do it on a stove.
My friend Anthony said once, "Cat you ever boiled a turd on a stove?" I laughed at that and thought he was just making a joke. No, he is serious....that is what it smells like.

Here is PART TWO to Yoda's progression. All friendly inputs I would appreciate and yes, Yoda is Mego-like height as compared to a 8 inch figure.

Yoda's brown jammies....(some of the brown didn't take and I had to touch up the spots with fabric paint..but very little.)
The hands and feet were the tricky process to get him to look right.
My next step will be designing the white cream colored robe and his walking stick. I may make a light-saber or I may not. Thoughts?

Compared to my 8 1/2 inch body of Hercules.

I learned the hard way that when you dye fabric, you should prewet it...I'd rather spend hours combing for that right color than tinkering with colored dyes.

I think Yoda's height is perfect for Mego scale.

The hands and feet look great!

I saw lightsabers at the comic store yesterday that were probably close to the right scale except that they were chop sticks and kind of pricey.

I've always liked Dorothy's headsculpt as a base for Leia, either a resin cast with sculpted hair or the vinyl head with restyled/rerooted hair.

I would have to find away to cast that head in Rezin so I can manipulate the many styles of hair that Leia used.

Just use the basic casting instructions on CustoMego. My way is slightly different, but I've never had any problems.
For simple heads, I started with brush-on latex because it was cheap to practice with and easy to find. Eventually I'll switch over to silicone. I place the head on a dowling, pencil, or other object I can use as a stand. I dust the original head with a bit of talcum powder, then brush on a coat of latex. Let it dry completely, then brush on another layer. Keep going until it's thick enough to use as a mold(the instruction sheet usually has a thickness listed). Once you have a mold built up, dust the outside with talcum to keep the mold from sticking to itself. Carefully peel it from the original and there you go. I usually use the basic Smooth On 1:1 white resin, and you don't really need much of a mold release, but I don't know much about other brands. Another light dusting of talcum on the inside of the mold usually does just fine for my way. I like to use sand a cup of sand to support the molds - It gives to their shape and you can gently push them in a bit to keep them from falling over. Just mix the resin and pour it in. After it's hardened, peel the mold off. If you do it carefully and don't rip it, you should be able to get multiple uses from it, although I've been told that in time, latex molds can warp.

Hey Wrath-D. Did you use the PEZ Yoda head? If so, You proved me wrong. I thought the pez yoda was off scale. For my Luke, I used a Bo Duke Plaster re-cast. I just reshaped the hair a bit and painted it with Mark Hamill in mind.

Looking good. This is shaping up to be my favorite of your customs.

Btw, is that body from that little girl at Dollar Tree? Think she comes with a skateboard?

Have no clue. They were about three little girl bodies. I think they came with Barbies or something. My daughter gave them to me.
