The ROCKETEER

One of my all time fav comics and film. I have been battling with making this for a while now so I started to put him together. The Jacket still needs the front flap which will be a pain for me to get. The boots I will eventually replace but this will have to do for now. Finding a luger will also be a bit of a challenge.....but still the figure looks good and brings a big smile to my face.

I thought the merchandising of the Rocketeer back when the movie was out really sucked.....Disney completely dropped the ball with it.

I wanted action figures and got zip.....

I know there's a 12 inch version but it's too damn expensive...

Wish Disney would make a new movie....

^^^Bruce wayne Dr.Mego head right size for the helmet and he has slicked back hair like most men wore in the 30's

Looks really nice - and quite clever too. It never occurred to me to use it as a "base" for a Mego custom...

I actually spent some time customizing the vinyl figure itself a few years ago, but I never finished it for whatever reason. Anyway, I did discover that using gold leaf foil on the helmet and bare-metal foil on the jetpack made a HUGE difference in the overall appearence (much better than simply repainting). Though, you do have to spray it with primer first for the foil to really adhere good.

Regarding his pistol, I believe it was a Mauser and not a Luger...but I could be wrong; its been a few years and I would have to dig out the figure to be sure.

I like the rocket pack from that vinyl... I pulled the one from the bendy and reworked the attachment for recast on mine. Bryer's had a great mego-era poly jodhpurs they released... it's just the right color too. Are you going to use Chips hands on the final?
