    C3PO

I have a friend who challenged me to make a C3PO custom. I have never done anything outside of Marvel and DC and I know there are a lot of people who customize Star Wars figures in the Mego style.
I would be curious to see anybodies work to crash ideas.

    Thanks!

      Started the head tonight.

It's a little blurry but I'll post when I get more.

I was going to suggest a using a C-3PO Pez head to start, but it looks like you've got that part covered.

Did you sculpt that head yourself? You will probably have little trouble making C-3PO then. Just wondering, there was an old MPC Model kit of him. Could that kit be Mego sized?

Actually a little of both. I found a pez head in a junk pile at one of those antique store toy box bins.
I took the head and I snapped it off the base and I literally had to resculpt the entire back of it along with a base for it. Then I filed it down and painted it and slapped it on the body.
The trick was getting the stuff make it look like it was one piece and not being able to tell where the cracks and the missing back was.

Now the fun part will be the body. I used a black Mattel (Black Manta) body. That is where the head is now embedded on. I figured using black as a base adding the armor pieces should work.

                Keep you posted.

I started the torso. Much to do.
This is an idea of what I am adding.
I will keep adding as it progresses.

That's a great start and a really good way to go about it.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

                        Neat!

Pez heads make a good start for customs, but yeah; they usually need some work. The upper body looks good so far. I think the BEST way to do a C3P0 would be to make the details separate parts, like Knight armour, and snap them over a bodysuit: black, with the wires painted on.

The next stage was refiling and adjusting the floppy Mattel waist after I compacted it with cotton balls (thanks to somebody on here for that tip! Brilliant!)

Then I was able to move to the next stage. He is still rough so bare with me!

My advice? Get in touch with whoever did the '78 Reimagined Catalog C-3PO and get their input. Couldn't hurt.
