I had started a couple of them a few years ago, but for the most part that was an entire weekend stuck indoors.
What I really brought back from sitting around the table with you guys at Mego Meet was that it can actually be a really quick process to assemble a figure when you have so many great heads, suits, bodies and accessories from folks like BLeit, Austin, Russ, Doc Mego, CTVT, Cast-A-Way, and others in that room at the Toy Museum in Wheeling, and online at the Museum.
The real light-bulb moment for me was the idea of doing them all at once rather than one at a time. Of course on the flip-side, I've yet to fully complete one of these that I've been working on in the past few weeks. There are a half dozen that are still missing eyes!Comment

Electro and Hobgoblin have proven to be the toughest to paint so far with all the little nooks and crannies to try and get your paintbrush into.
The real game-changer for me with the head painting was when I discovered microbrushes at the hobby shop last week.

Great Scott!! It looks like your running your own little action figure sweat shop there!!
Nice work on all of them so far. A tip for the eyes, buy a paint pen with a fine tip. I use a white one, and then a black for the pupil, etc....I prefer the simpler Mego look most times. If you wanted to get fancier though, they do make several different colors. they are way easier to use than a brush if you have meathooks for hands like I do.Comment

Wow! You are really going to town there. You are turning into a customizing machine. The bigger question is what will you do next when these are all finished soon?Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
Too much space. Need more toys!

Yup. I appear to have dozens and dozens of them as I uncover more of the customs stashes I bought years ago and never got around to using. I didn't even realize I had so many of Austin's suits, including a big bag of unsewn ones.
I also have a big bag of Austin heads that I'm saving for when I get a bit better practiced at head painting. Lou Ferigno Hulk, Movie Spiderman, Medicom Spiderman seem kind of intimidating to me to paint. I also have a few Glow in the Dark heads which I'm trying to figure out what to do with because painting them will actually defeat the purpose of having them cast in glow in the dark resin!
I've mostly gone through my Russ customlabs heads, although again I'm feeling a bit gun shy on the movie likeness ones in particular... Christopher Reeve, Jack NIcholson Joker, Adam West and Burt Ward Batman and Robin.
I bought a bunch of BK heads last year that I'm anxious to get cracking on, but for the life of me I can't remember where I put them for safe keeping.
Heads used to be such a pain for me, particularly since I was sitting there for hours with a small file to try and get them to fit the neck holes. I learned a trick at Mego Meet to just use a pair of plyers and spin the neck plugs in them until they are quickly ground down to fit. Now I just got to remember to do that BEFORE I paint the head since I always have to retouch if after grinding down the neck plug.Comment

What I worked on tonight.
Pardon the crappy series of quick laptop photos. I'll dig out the good camera when there is actually something to show other than constant work in progress.
You probably can't tell, but that is a Michael Keaton Batman.Comment

KIMOTA!
I'm finally close to owning a completed action figure of one of my all time favourite superheroes... Miracleman (or Marvelman to those in the UK) as he appeared in Alan Moore's (and co) series from the 80's.
