    Savage Land Sundays project...

    Hey gang...
I had a little reprieve on the shoulder (not for molding/casting sadly, just some sculpting) over the weekend and got started up on my Sauron sunday night...

As you can see I still have some finishing work on the index (need to widen it a bit) and middle fingers. Once everything's sharpened up I'm thinking about taking it to a rapid prototyping place to see about getting it scanned and duplicated mirror image. Cheater's way, I know. Cost might be prohibitive anyway - but I'd like the same orientation of the hand and fingers on both sides.

The idea is he'll be done old school style... Lizard type pants and tail, neptunian style wings, but the sleeve will extend and be finished off at the end, with just a cut-out for the hand to pop out of.

    [UPDATE]
Plans changed to pajama feet - pattern was based on a Tinman suit, two sleeves of a Davy Crockett top donated their lives to become the loincloth.

    [UPDATE]
Some one-eyed sewing - not my best work, but she'll do.

That looks pretty amazing...hope it's not too expensive to have the mirror duplication done!

Man!!! I think of the $$$$ some people put into this hobby and I get faint! The reconstruction and re-mechanics of the hand is awesome! Imagining the effort to get this far... Going to the expence of reproducing the other hand in this fashion could be viable but YEEEESSHH!!! Still, Gotta salute ya for the effort and dedication to the craft!!!

Caught up with some sewing today. I'd wanted to leave the wings unstitched beneath the sleeve - (no little fingers sewn in) but the fabric I chose rolls and curls up so much even after trying starch, etc, that I had to go ahead and sew them.

I think it looks ok, but it's not as clean as it could be, and certainly not WWMD. I may just make a second suit or swap out the arms if I can find a good alternate fabric for the wing.
