I might be wrong but I would guess after you burn detail into leather you would want to rub it or coat it with something; like whatever they use on baseball gloves. I think the thing you want to avoid is after it being burned by a laser it might dry out. You would probably want it to remain soft and pliable.

Yes, I need to do something. I plan on trying different material and see which I like the best and then I'll try different ways of finishing it.
