If its leather, or a sturdy enough vinyl, I would use a leatherworking tool (essentially a dental pick) and carve(trace) it into the jacket. There are literally thousands of different type leather stamping tools you can buy that will work too.
If its leather (which it appears to be in the picture--nice work!), just make it wet first and then do your glyphs. Then use a softer edged tool to re trace the edges. When it dries, the leather will hold the patterns and you can use dye or paint to color them in. If its vinyl, just trace them in a few times lightly. If the vinyl is tough enough the image will hold.....if its a cheaper/thinner vinyl....this wont work very well.
Lastly, you could try adding the glyphs to a seperate piece of leather, then attaching the finished product to your exisiting jacket. This is what I would do....mainly because I just know I would screw something up the first time around, and its easier to make panels, than make a new jacket every time you screw up.
Thanks everyone. Captain thanks for the ideas, yes it is leather, only the best for Zauis.I have tried the leather working tools, but i didn't think to do it wet.I will have to try that. And yes i have already screwed up a few pieces of leather with different attempts at doing this.If that works, which i think it will. I will make some pants out of the same leather as the jacket and call him done. Thanks again
Heres some progress on Zauis glyphs, thanks again Captain, your ideas worked great. After taking this pic i can see some areas that need a little work, but i'm happy how they are turning out.
