That's why I suggested the Cindy Brady head. I thought it looked more like the girl in the picture. It's hardly generic. The Dinah-Mite head yeah, but CB has more detail to it. I was just suggesting a different route to take, that's all. Stick with what you got, looks great.

I think the sculpt looks great. But often dead on scale likenesses fail slightly. Look at a lot of the action figures with the gentle giant computer scan technology. For all intents and purposes they are exact... but somehow don't quite look like the person.
A likeness like this has to be ever so slightly tweaked to really capture the person. If you study Ada Wong stuff, or even some McFarlane sculpts you see this.
On this sculpt I would think slightly tweaking the jawline/chin to emphasize the heart shaped face, sharpening the upper lip/smile creases to bring forward the expression, a slight raise the height of the cranium to make the forehead a teeny bit taller (and hence retain childlike facial features) and maybe bring out the apple cheeks a bit and it would be nailed.
You have to remember that a scale model is many times smaller, and the things that really make us look like US, don't read so well when tiny.Comment

A lot can be done with a good paint job. There are doll painters out there who specialize in doing likenesses (celebrity), always starting with some pre-made character.......... Maybe you should check out Haute magazine.... Some of these people sell on ebay too.Comment

Here are a few examples of what a knockout paint job can do:

I agree with what Hulk said. The anatomy is wrong. The eyes and everything below that are too high on the head. The nose is too wide. It is the nose of an adult not of a child. Something else really throwing it off is the girl has brown eyes and on the sculpt, they were painted blue.
Its a quality sculpt, the person has talent, but they didn't capture the likeness on this one.

>attempting to make, as realistic as possible, a doll that looks like the subject at hand.
....ALTHOUGH, if you started with a resin cast Dinah it'd be easy to alter into an accurate likeness. (If they ever made a Dinah Mite movie, this person would be great for the part....)
>often dead on scale likenesses fail slightly
Sharpening. That's where you kinda tweak (usually a painting or drawing) your product to exemplarate certain features while downplaying others. The pic is a pro job (or someone darned clode to being a pro) so they've done this. Lighting, posing, camera positioning, proper azimuth to target.... it's all used to maximalize that subject.
Realistic carvings usually fall short 'cos when you're making a sculpt; especially for a figure, you're trying to capture the IDEA of the subject more than the actuality of the subject. At 1/9 scale you gotta leave a lot of things out or the finished product looks kinda crowded and busy.
>A lot can be done with a good paint job.
Definitely. The finished head has a realistic paint job; which is no doubt detracting from the final effect. You'd want something simplified for a young, girlie subject. (Note the photographer has used stronger lighting to increase the brightness of the person. This washes out the skin tone; making it more balanced and even. Something real people usually aren't.)
