    Removing permanent marker from Megos

I'm sure it has been discussed before somewhere but does anyone have any tricks for removing what appears to be permanent marker from a Mego head? In this case, it appears that a black Sharpie (maybe?) was used to touch up this Cheron head where the black paint started to show wear and it bled or migrated onto the white half. Thanks!

^ Yes, Removez-It/ peroxide paste is designed to remove such stains, but it removes paint as well.

This might be a myth, but I once heard that rubbing alcohol or hairspray works? old wives tale maybe?

i tried both but neither worked i think it must sink in deeper than the surface.

I haven't done it to a Mego head but you can use cheap Acne medicine with Benzolperoxide to remove stuff from Vintage GIJOE heads. Removes paint too so be cautious. Best to leave it sit in a hot window for a few days.(summer is best time for this if you live in the north) That being said certain complications like a fading to the skin tone has happened to me. Find a beater head that's not important to experiment on so nothing important is lost. Good Luck!

remov-zit is really benzoyl peroxide; just marketed to vinyl doll restorers. Your local supermarket, or walmart type place probably has a generic brand that will do the same thing. It will remove paint, tho - so I would be cautious since you are trying to make a straight line with the Cheron head.

I removed Sharpie from CD's with a dry erase marker. It took multiple attempts, but a little came off each time. Not sure if it works the same for a Mego head, but test it on something else.

                      Thanks guys. Appreciate the tips.

The figure, overall, is pretty beat but up so I would like to give him a makeover. Once the head is addressed, I need to:
Re-stitch the left leg on his costume from the knee down.
                      Add a snap.
Get him a white boot (he's wearing two black boots that are in great shape).
Re-pin his right knee (dreading this!).

He was given to me along with a box of other Mego and CTVT stuff. Some good, some just fodder for customs. I have the start of a ST collection going and would like to do what I can so he can join Uhura and Bones.
