How can you make a playset without Dida Displays?

I wanted to make some playsets some day, But since Dida Displaysets are gone, I don't know how! Any Ideas?

You could mount artwork onto foam-core board, the foam-core is easy to cut with an exacto knife and can be glued together. You could also just start with a background image printed on cardstock, start simple and add on as you go.

That sounds like it might be good, but are Foam Core boards very durable?

I use the Wal-Mart bookshelfs along with foam boards cut to fit each shelf. For the backdrops I print them out on the full page stickers and place them carefully together. It give you more room to work with.

You can also buy sheets of clear vinyl to cover up your printed artwork to give it that Mego playset / Dida Display look.

When I did a bat cave recently, I printed the artwork, laminated it and then mounted it onto black foamcore, it has a very megoey look.

Laminating the artwork seems to mimic that effect pretty well. I also had my artwork printed at Office Depot on a pretty thick cardstock to give it some more rigidity, especially for the ends of the foamcore where I glued 1/8th strips of the rock pattern to give it a more finished look.
