KISS 8 inch Mego Retro Series 1 twist fix?

I read on Amazon that there is a fix for the twist on the KISS 8 inch Mego Retro Series 1.

I spent most of the day searching the forums here & found nothing. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I didn't get mine yet but I'm having second thoughts that I should of wasted $98.09 shipped on them after reading & seeing pictures that the face paint isn't sharp & Ace's head is huge.

And after looking at some pictures Ace's suit don't look tight or straight & Gene's chains are hanging way to low.

Any info on these issues & fixes would be great!

I'm pretty bummed right now especially after finding out the Mego "Vintage" repro boxes are only made for the 12".

I restrung mine with elastic to varying degrees of success. Then I just replaced the bodies altogether with Dr. Mego bodies.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

I've never a seen a set in person, but there were reports that some of the 8" KISS figures some how got a 12" head put on them. Not sure if all the 8" Ace's have big heads, but just pointing out this possibility.

Thanks guys! I hope I'm not disappointed with mine. What about the face paint? I seen some pictures where there was over spray which concerns me GREATLY!

The best thing you can do is buy from a seller that will provide real (not stock/promo) photos and go from there. I would also lower my expectations a bit, as the 8" figures do have flaws and don't look as good as the 12" ones.

Thank you aceclone! I did get them. So far I'm pleased with them. I didn't get to look at them really good though.

Both the 12 and 8 in figures KISS series 1 have twist issues. The 8 in figures have a more noticeable one because it more visible and they twist weird. You can replace the body or just re string yours like I did mine. Unfortunately, Paul Stanley's figure in the 8 inch format is HORRIBLE for all reasons. Paul's hair is flat, limp and cut so wrong beyond repair, his eyes are poorly painted and face is weirdly warped. I feel so sorry for Paul's figure. The series 2 have WAY better bodies and don't suffer from the crazy issues as series 1. You can fix Gene's chains by adding links like I did as you can see in my gallery. Buy a simply loose set from Classic TV toys instead.

Thanks firestarcomics! Man Did you buy the Peter & Ace from Danny the Farrow? I like what you did to Gene series 1 chains! Where did you get the parts?

I bought the KISS retro series 1,series 2 and the KISS ALIVE series in 12 inch format. Yes, the series 1 DOES have factory mistakes on the paint applications on some of the figures. My Paul Stanley series One 12 inch figure has a mistake and you can tell that they tried touching it up at the factory with more white paint the NEVER blended in. Most consumers were IRRATE about that since these 12 figures were about $70 each. You don't get that problem with the Farrows' KISS ALIVE 75 figures AT ALL. Those figures in their 12 inch format are BRILLIANT in the face sculpts and paint application. All that makes me wonder WHY FTC had all those factory issues with series 1? Series 1 Gene is a figure that I got BOTH at an ebay auction and also the FTC version. The chain on Gene's chest are something that commonly found on cheap pop jewelry trinkets for kids during the 70s. The material that was used for Ace and Gene's gauntlets and boot shields or sleeves is something you can get at Hobby Lobby. Pretty much the fabric on most of these Mego figures you can find at any fabric store, just take your figures clothing to a fabric place and ask the nice ladies.

If you need to restring figures you can buy elastic cord at ANY fabric store. There are tutorials on here and also on Youtube that explain that very well. I don't know how you can remove the head on a figure because the heads on MY FTC figures are very well secure. I tried removing Gene's head on a spare series 1 figure and almost broke the neck off completely but I fixed it with gorilla glue and you cannot tell I had messed it up. Luckily my figure STILL has a moving head. Im sure people on here have a tutorial on removing heads and exchanging bodies with BETTER bodies for the annoying body twist.

What about those great looking Love Gun Ace & Peter dolls that look life like? I seen The Farrow have them. How did you buy them?

The KISS figures that have the big 12" heads on the 8" bodies are not from series 1 (love gun). Those are from the 'Monster' series (3rd or 4th in the series).

YES! The Monster and Sonic Boom figures have the WORST sculpts of ALL the series. The 8 inch Sonic Boom and Monster are pretty terrible. I have the 12 inch Gene Sonic Boom that I converted to Destroyer Gene. His pictures are on my gallery page and the hair is complete disaster! It was horribly cut and is completely botched. The head on 12 in Sonic Boom is a little big even at the 12 in scale. The 8 inch figures for those two lines look so incredibly awful, wrong head scale, the paint applications are also SLOPPY. The costumes on Tommy Fake Ace, Paul and Eric Singer Fake Catman are pretty weirdly put together. Avoid those 8 inch lines completely
