I was told it is, but I'm scared to "f" something up painting it, and it not drying properly.

Enamels won't dry on vinyl or rubber parts. They do on plastics...

That's why I never tried. I don't think it'll work and don't want to destroy something I'm working on.

tried it on a resin head and it worked and dried ok and it is shinier than paint or spray.

Nail polish can be tricky stuff to work with. I've used it to paint some details on ceramics and it took forever for the stuff to dry! I've also never found anything I can use to thin it out. I actually tried nail polish remover and all it did was break the stuff down into microscopic little beads of color that were pretty much worthless.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

It should thin with pure acetone.

There are enamel and acrylic nail polishes, so it would depend on which one you are using.

I did some Iron Man armor and my Speed Racer helmet using nail polish. So plastics not resin... but I can tell you that it gives them a really nice luster. However, be warned that it can be tricky to get it applied smoothly and without brush marks.

The problem I had years ago was that the nail polish would crack over time. Is the new stuff better?
